The Detox Diet Plan

Helping Your Body

Helping Your Body

Anyone going into a detoxification program will want to minimize any foods that would introduce toxins into our bodies such as foods containing bad fats, food loaded with pesticides and herbicides, foods high in sugars, processed foods and most dairy and grain products. We want to give special attention to the organs of detoxification, especially the liver, pancreas, and gut and eat a diet that allows easy to digest foods allowing these organs to rest to some extent.

Proteins

Proteins

We want to limit our dietary intake of animal proteins mainly to organic pasture-raised eggs and wild caught fish such as Salmon, Herring, Sardines, Catfish, Tilapia and Anchovies. It is acceptable to occasionally consume some organic turkey and chicken but much more desirable to stick to eggs and fish. Fish also contains desirable fats which are Omega 3, anti-inflammatory fats.

Certain fats are also recommended to avoid on any detoxification diet such as grapeseed, cottonseed, canola, hemp, peanut, corn, sesame and soybean oils. These oils are loaded with Omega 6 fatty acids and are pro-inflammatory. I recommend cooking with olive oil at low heat to room temperature but butter, ghee, coconut and palm kernel oils for elevated heat cooking during the detox program. Please avoid any nuts or nut butters that are not raw, roasted nuts possess bad fats too.

Organic

Organic

Organic vegetables and fruits should be the #1 Foods that are consumed during a detox program. They are loaded with nutrients like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and anti-cancer properties. The “Cruciferous” family of vegetables contains Cytochrome P450 which is an enzyme specifically involved in the detoxification process in the liver so I can’t advise more than to consume lots of these veggies (see list below). Salads loaded with veggies topped with olive oil, lemon and balsamic vinegar would make a great meal.

As for dairy products please minimize and switch to a nut milk or raw whole milk if you do not have an allergy to milk. Grass-fed butter and Ghee are acceptable dairy products and minimize any cheese consumption. Please avoid most grain products. I recommend avoiding glutenous foods during the detox. Acceptable grains include white or brown rice, quinoa, gluten free pasta, gluten free tortillas, organic oatmeal.

Water

Water

As for beverage consumption...water, water, water!!! Purified mountain spring water! You can use lemon in your water too. Organic unsweetened green tea is acceptable.

Please avoid all alcoholic beverages, sodas, sports drinks, energy drinks, sugar-free beverages, milk, black tea and coffee. It is highly recommended to fast. This can be achieved through juice fasting and water fasting. If you suffer from a hypo-glycemic condition water fasting is not recommended but juice fasting can usually be tolerated. The more fasting days the better. Fasting accelerates the detoxification process and can also activate autophagy after about 48 hours of water fasting which is a process that takes old or damaged components of a cell and recycles them into proteins that can be used for fuels.

Remember just do your best. Keeping toxins out of your body and bringing in high quality whole foods is going to optimize the process. It is normal to possibly feel “run down” initially during a detox program, please make sure to increase your intake of water to at least 8 glasses daily. If you decide to add in water fasting days as recommended above please refrain from Mix-Fix Detox product just during the fasting period and re-continue when back on whole foods or juicing. Make sure you take a quality Magnesium supplement during any water fast periods.
